Recently, someone asked me what Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is like.
I responded in the only way I knew how: “It’s the most glamorous, exciting and inspiring week of the calender year and it’s also the most unglamorous.”
Last month saw my eighth year of attendance at MBFWA, and here’s something you never get told as a rookie: the 4am starts are a killer!
When I was waking up at all hours and squeezing roughly two to three hours of sleep in a night, I simply did not have time every morning to do my hair.
My solution? Textured (but not messy!) bed hair.
I have naturally straight hair so to add movement and a bit of pieceiness to it, I coated my roots and ends with ghd Total Volume Foam. It can be applied to dry or damp hair but on the mornings where I so desperately needed that extra five minutes sleep, I just popped it onto dry strands. A blast of my ghd Air to speed things up and I was left with perfectly textured hair that had grip and guts allowing me to race out the door without looking too pretty.
While it’s true foam or mousse can often be associated with the hardcore stuff your mum might’ve applied to her hair during the ’80s; leaving it looking not too dissimilar to a helmet – trust me, those days are long gone. Now, volume mousses and foams are hydrating, conditioning, texturising and above all, to be embraced.
