THAT 70S FEELING

At Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, the runways were chock a block full of 1970s-inspired looks .

Stevie Nicks-style strands were everywhere with hair stylists recreating seventies ‘dos with modern finishes such as softer side parts, nonchalant hair flicks and double-twisted top knots. Oh, and styling products that provided plenty of hold without weighing hair down. No folks, no “helmet hair” here.

The good news for us is that the modern 70s-style hair look is easy to replicate on your own. Here’s how to copy it…

GET THE LOOK:

STEP 1
Starting with shampooed hair, make a clean middle part and apply O&M Rootalicious Root Lift Mousse all over.

STEP 2
Rough dry hair with finger tips using a hair-dryer like ghd Air.

STEP 3
Next, comb hair to smooth out any tangles.

STEP 4
Starting from mid-lengths to ends, and then from roots to ends, spray hair with ghd Heat Protect Spray before spritzing Label.M Hairspray – this will give your hair some grit.

STEP 5
Using your fingers as a comb, separate hair from the right ear around to the left ear so you have a top and bottom section. Clip the top section on top of the head so it’s out of the way.

STEP 6
Using a Cloud Nine Wide Iron, take 5cm sections from the bottom and curl.

STEP  7
Unclip the top section of hair and repeat curling all over.

STEP 8
Now, spray hair all over Evo Water Killer Dry Shampoo to give hair a matte texture.

STEP 9
Follow with Sachajuan Ocean Mist all over. Flip your head over and continue spraying generously.

STEP 10
While your hair is flipped over, use your hands to muss it all up.

STEP 11
Flip your hair back over and create a low side part by flicking hair over to your side of choice.

STEP 12
To finish, seal with Label.M Hairspray for extra hold.
