DRINK YOUR WAY TO BETTER SKIN

You’ve taken supplements for your body, now take them especially for your skin.

An alternative to expensive juice cleanses that last less than a week and downing daily vitamins the size of small bottle caps, these drinkable supplements are frankly the easiest (and tastiest) addition we’ve ever made to our beauty routines.

On their ingredients list, you’ll find a shopping list of superfoods with more antioxidants than you probably have relatives in the country. But do they work? We think yes, but don’t expect your skin to miraculously clear up in 24 hours. As with anything dietary, your body takes time to cycle, detox and heal.

There is however, quite a bit of evidence that gut health affects skin clarity, and the intake of antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins, fermented enzymes and pre- and probiotics (which these drinkable supplements have in spades) can help with that. Adding a dose of these beauty boosters to your AM and PM glass of water also makes hydrating less boring, which can’t be a bad thing.

So, if you’re already doing everything you can for your skin from the outside in with prestige creams, powerful treatments and a dutiful skincare regimen, taking a two-prong approach and working from the inside out can’t hurt that quest for glowing, youthful skin.

Here’s three currently on high rotation in our kitchen –

COOL TIP:

AVOID HEATING DRINKABLE SUPPLEMENTS OR ADDING THEM TO HOT BEVERAGES AS THIS CAN DESTROY THE NUTRIENTS.

THE BEAUTY CHEF
‘COLLAGEN’ INNER BEAUTY BOOST

The Beauty Chef is absolutely dominating the beauty supplements category with its extensive and inexpensive range of liquid and powder supplements for everything from hydration to skin glow to collagen production. Their concentrates harness the power of fermentation, which allows ingredients to be readily absorbed into our system. We love the powerful berry taste of their ‘COLLAGEN’ formula, packed with goji-berry, papaya, grape-seed oil, pomegranate, maqui berry and blueberry for anti-ageing and improved skin vitality.

WELLE CO.
THE SUPER ELIXIR NOURISIHING PROTEIN

Welle Co. takes a more holistic approach to beauty supplementation, helping not only to fortify skin but with overall wellness. Nourishing Protein features nine amino acids that help with collagen production, superfood açai that helps eliminate free radicals, digestive enzymes for a healthy gut, as well as pea protein for strengthening skin, hair and nails. The cacao flavour makes it go down a treat, and it’s also available in vanilla.

CILK ROSE EXTRACT

Turns out recently eliminated The Bachelor Australia contestant, Sasha was onto something when she took a bite out of her rose – sort of…. In this drinkable formula by CILK, the elixir of the damask rose has been harnessed to help with everything from digestion to preventing breakouts. High in anti-inflammatories and antioxidant, the exotic spicy sweet essence has long been used in Persian, Indian and Middle Eastern cooking, most notably in herbal teas, and also to flavour traditional turkish delights and marzipan.
