(Groundbreaking)

On a cloudy, overcast day, let the high impact of a holographic shimmer or subtle iridescence raise your spirits.

Inspired by Kirakira+ (that app that’s sparkling up everything over on Insta-stories), this is Gritty Pretty’s easy guide to wearing metallic makeup featuring Senior Artist for M.A.C Cosmetics Australia, Nicole Thompson. Her money-saving, high-impact tips on how to wear this of-the-moment beauty trend might just make you a little less scared of using shimmery products in everyday life. Join us?

Keep scrolling for those excellent tips.

LOW INTENSITY

Thompson praises the metallic lip product that can be used on all areas the face: eyes, cheeks and lips. “It makes metallics as user-friendly as possible,” she says. “I used my fingers to tap everything in and blend, you don’t always need to use a brush,” she adds.  All the money-saving tips, right there.

MEDIUM INTENSITY

For lips that jump off the page (here’s one we prepared earlier #smugface), start with a metallic cream or liquid lipstick base, dab and set with metallic eyeshadow, then add gloss on top for one “metallic sandwich” that will not budge. It’s all about layering for a multi-dimensional finish.
