THE PRODUCTS MAKEUP ARTISTS ACTUALLY HAVE IN THEIR KIT

When makeup artists endorse beauty brands, beauty editors’ listen up!

As much as we makeup-mad folk get excited about celebrity beauty campaigns, there’s really no substitute for expert opinion.

Makeup artists know good cosmetics like dentists know unhealthy gums, so we asked some very talented international and local ones to pick their favourite child and name just one must-have product from their extensive beauty stash. Beauty perves, get up in this.

ALLISON BOYLE | Makeup Artist

Sisley Paris Phyto-Touche Illusion d’Été – my aesthetic is always about skin looking beautiful but real. So this gel-powder bronzer is my go to for myself and in my kit. It gives a lovely gentle sun kissed look to paler skin and on deeper skin tones [it adds] a beautiful summer luminosity.”

ANIA MILCZARCZYK | Makeup Artist

“I absolutely love Laura Mercier Illuminated Tinted Moisturiser. I’ve never done makeup without it. I use it only on the nose, around the forehead and cheeks. It adds the perfect amount of glow – and looks healthy and radiant rather than shiny.”

BOBBI BROWN | Bobbi Brown

“I never leave the house without my Creamy Concealer. Concealer is the secret of the beauty universe… Now matter how I’m feeling, a creamy, yellow-toned concealer instantly makes me look fresh and well-rested.”

CHARLOTTE TILBURY | Charlotte Tilbury

“I never got anywhere without my miracle-working moisturiser, Magic Cream. It’s packed full of hyaluronic acid and vitamins A, C & E which flood the skin with moisture, leaving it dewy and youth-boosted. I call it a push-up bra in a jar!”

ELLIS FAAS | Ellis Faas Cosmetics

“I always say for myself, I couldn’t live without my Concealer because once the canvas is perfect you can just add to it. You can use it as a foundation as well – it’ll take a bit longer – but you can make your whole face look nice with just that.”

LIZ KELSH | Max Factor Ambassador

Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara, of course. It’s hands down the best mascara. It really packs a punch; lots of mascaras come on the market but this one is still my favourite; once bitten forever smitten.”

MAX MAY | Makeup Artist

“Choosing one product is like choosing one of your children as ‘your favourite’, it’s just not possible. But if I was to choose one product that has travelled the test of time, that’s pretty much been a staple of what I have built my career and style of ‘perfect skin’ on it would have to be Giorgio Armarni Luminous Silk Foundation. For both the everyday woman and makeup artist, this foundation is an ‘icon’ when it comes to achieving luminous, flawless skin with versatile coverage!”

NIGEL STANISLAUS | Maybelline New York Makeup Director Australia

“The Maybelline The Nudes Shadows Palette for sure! With a generous array of 12 universal shades you can create infinite eye looks for any occasion.”

RAE MORRIS | Rae Morris Brushes

“My absolute hand-on-heart makeup product is my Radiance Foundation Brush. I cannot do foundation without it, and it makes foundation look invisible on skin because of the buffing motion and the brush size and hair type. It’s also famous for being used backstage at the McQueen show in Paris and was voted one of the world’s top ten makeup brushes by Harper’s Bazaar US.”

TERRY DE GUNZBERG | By Terry

By Terry Light Expert Click Brush because it allows for an effortless application. It’s an all-in-one tool that combines a kabuki angle brush with an exclusive texture/ high-tech flawless camouflage formula… it’s uniqueness is in the fact that it is so easy to use and both professionals as well as the everyday woman can achieve an impeccable finish on bare skin or on top of makeup. It is expertise in a click that can be carried in every handbag.”

TOBI HENNEY | Makeup Artist

“After much deliberation, my ultimate product in my makeup kit is Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze & Glow as it creates a beautiful soft contour and the golden highlight looks radiant in real life and super glowing in pictures. I use it on nearly every job! “

TONY BAUMANN | Mecca Head of Artistry

Mecca Cosmetics Soft Focus Primer, because it blurs imperfections, smooths out uneven skin texture and hydrates without leaving skin too oily or sticky. It’s a multi-tasking gem but the best thing is it works under any foundation formula. One primer fits all…truly.”

So, how many of these makeup artist favourites do you own?
