Contrary to old wives tales, not all oils make skin oilier.
In fact, some oils – like Sodashi’s new Samadara Ultimate Age-Defying Elixir – can be supremely hydrating, deeply nourishing and – hold the phone! – even skin repairing.
As an alchemy of botanical oils, the intensive overnight treatment diminishes fine lines, reduces pigmentation and refines the appearances of pores.
Sure, oils aren’t anything new to the beauty world but what makes Sodashi’s take so unique is the high-quality ingredients conscientiously sourced from exotic locations – cue the mountain slopes of Chile, the Isparta Valley in Turkey and some of the remotest parts of the Australian outback – not to mention the two rose quartz crystals, which positively-charge and enliven the luxurious oil from within its sophisticated navy glass bottle.
At the heart of this blend is white tea and gotu kola, which naturally trigger the skin’s production of collagen and elastin; neroli and arnica to reduce inflammation; jasmine and camellia to soften the skin’s texture; and damask rose and sandalwood to help calm and repair broken capillaries.
The result of two years in the making, Sodashi’s founder Megan Larsen says, “The skin responds extraordinarily well to pure botanical oils because its consistency is very similar to natural facial lipids”. Larsen adds, “Plant oils are readily absorbed into the deepest layers of the skin to support the skin at a cellular level”.
Two to three drops applied morning and night, and at first glance, the elixir leaves a hydrated but non-greasy texture which is soon lifted by a floral fragrance of neroli, rose and jasmine. Drawing on the teachings of Ayurvedic healing, the oil even comes with instructions for a special sequence of massage movements to help deliver maximum results.
“When you apply Sodashi Samadara Ultimate Age-Defying Elixir, you also get a feeling of bien-être; as the French would say, a beautiful sense of wellbeing,” says Larsen.
