Get The Cover Look: Jen Atkin

From Chrissy Teigen to Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, Jen Atkin has proved time and time again she’s the queen of the red carpet ‘do.

Whether it be her access-all-areas Instagram feed or OUAI, her globally-successful line of hair care products, Atkin has managed to work her way into our hearts as one of those industry professionals that doubles as a friend/influencer/celebrity. But regardless of how down to earth Atkin is, underneath there’s an extremely hardworking and dedicated businesswoman—a formidable combination for sure.  And now, speaking to Gritty Pretty while in Los Angeles for Gritty Pretty Magazine’s winter 2018 cover shoot, we reveal how to recreate the beauty boss’ look.

Behind the lens was Australia LA-based photographer David Higgs, stylist Kara Wilson and makeup artist Brittany Sully (for this shoot, her secret weapon was Dior Diorskin Forever Undercover Foundation). The brief: to showcase Atkin as the beauty boss and celebrity she now is in her own right.

On set of most editorial shoots, hairstylists such as Atkin are on hand to coif the cover star’s manes into photographic perfection but in this case there was none other better equipped than the star herself. Atkin self-styled her own hair for Gritty Pretty Magazine’s cover shoot into three key looks: slicked back bun, tousled waves and a textured bob.

Go behind-the-scenes below and discover how to recreate Atkin’s cover look:

“For Jen’s cover look, we wanted to keep her signature style with just a bit more drama. We opted for a smokier version of the classic cat eye using Dior Diorshow On Stage Liner in Vinyl Black and layers of Dior Diorshow Pump’N’Volume Mascara. Skin was kept even with Dior Diorskin Forever Undercover Foundation and pretty and fresh Dior Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Glow Addict Limited Edition for soft highlights.”  – Brittany Sullivan, Makeup Artist
