An icon, under the spotlight.
In 2020, new beauty launches are flying thick and fast. Every day, we are presented with a new, you-beaut product – each promising to change our lives and ensure we never (ever!) get a wrinkle again.
Despite all of the noise in the market, there are a handful of old-faithful products that have stood the test of time. Why? Because they work – and they have a loyal following of fans to prove it.
Today, we’re throwing the spotlight on Sisley Paris Black Rose Cream Mask. With half of France investing in this product to plump and renew their complexion, it’s safe to say that the Black Rose Cream Mask is a skin care icon. But what makes it so special? And do the results justify the price tag? We investigate.
The name: Sisley Paris Black Rose Cream Mask
The sell: According to the brand’s website, it is: “A cream mask that has been specifically formulated to instantly provide the skin with a youthful and energized look. The Black Rose Cream Mask offers the skin instant youth and radiance.”
The price tag: $200 / 60ml
The collection: To speak of the Black Rose Cream Mask without mentioning the entire collection would be remiss. This mask is just one of four products from the Sisley Paris Black Rose collection, including the Black Rose Precious Face Oil, Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream and recently released Black Rose Eye Contour Fluid.
Infused with the powerful black rose extract (more on that later), these products work hand in hand to smooth, brighten, revitalise and plump skin – winding back the clock in the process. While the mask works as a treatment, the Black Rose Precious Face Oil, Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream and Black Rose Eye Contour Fluid are suitable for everyday use, both morning and night.
Ready to overhaul your skin, Sisley Paris style? Start by applying three to seven drops of Black Rose Precious Face Oil to bare skin: this will offer intense hydration and prep skin for the products to come. Follow with a pea-sized amount of the Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream to double down on hydration, leaving skin silky soft. The pièce de résistance is the new Black Rose Eye Contour Fluid: this rosy-hued gel cream immediately brightens the eye area (see ya, dark circles) and melts into skin to intensely nourish and reduce puffiness (feigning the effects of eight hours sleep). The cold ceramic applicator feels fresh on the skin, offering a convenient and hygienic ‘no touch’ application whilst simultaneously massaging the product in.
The loyal legion of fans: The real question: is there anyone in France who doesn’t use the Black Rose Cream Mask? Since launching in 2011, the brand now sells one Black Rose Cream Mask every three minutes around the world and it continues to be the best selling face mask in France. The numbers speak for themselves, non?
The ingredients: The Black Rose Cream Mask contains a number of powerful ingredients, the three most lauded being: Black Rose, Padina Pavonica and Alkekengi Calyx extracts.
Black Rose is a powerful antioxidant, helping to smooth skin and prevent premature ageing by protecting against free radicals; Padina Pavonica is a natural brown algae that promotes the synthesis of glycoaminoglycans, making skin appear moisturised and supple; Alkekengi Calyx promotes collagen synthesis to improve the skin’s elasticity.
The best way to use it: Thanks to the mask’s cream texture, the application process is a truly decadent affair. Two to three times a week, apply a generous lather of the rosy cream all over the face and neck, using caution around the eye area. Wait 10 to 15 minutes, taking in the delicate floral scent as you sit back and relax. (Some long-time users recommend leaving the product on overnight to really allow it to sink in.) To remove the mask, simply tissue away any excess. Et voila!
The benefits: Now, to the results – that’s why we’re all here, isn’t it? This ultra-hydrating formula is a tall drink of water for dehydrated skin: drier skin types will see an instant improvement. However, Black Rose Cream Mask really comes into its own as an anti-ageing product: its powerful active ingredients plump, smooth, brighten and revitalise skin, keeping women across the world coming back for more.
To supercharge skin-renewing benefits, the mask works hand in hand with Sisley Paris’ Black Rose collection – which boosts skin on a daily basis.
The verdict: Long ago, we embarked on a lifelong quest to recreate the effortless beauty of the quintessential ‘French woman’. While Parisian style is hard to emulate, skin care is something that we can do. The Sisley Paris Black Rose Cream Mask does everything that it says it does and more.
